Aspley Guise 0 U16 Girls 5

Scorers Savana Fearon 3, Stella Dodwell & Danielle Buckland GOM Savana Fearon We went into this game knowing we faced tougher opponents that some of our recent matches and it took a while to break down their defences. They played high up the pitch and as a consequence we were adjudged off side on a number of occasions. On the half hour mark we broke the stalemate. We were in their half and Leanne had come up to take a throw in. She stayed up in their half and received the ball which she ran up the line and then chipped it into the six yard box for Savana Fearon to send it into the back of the net. Our second goal came about ten minutes later. The ball was sent into their area from the right wing but overshot. Thankfully a super fast Stella ran up the left through two players, controlled the ball with one touch and scored with the second. A real poachers goal ! The second half started strongly and we were also playing with the wind behind us. Aspley were still playing with a high defensive line and we were again falling into the trap. However two goals came in fairly quick succession from Savana and Danielle Buckland. We won a number of corners and from one of these my holy grail of a goal was scored. Victoria played a perfect ball into the area and Savana jumped up and scored this teams first ever goal from a header – I now owe her £20. This was a well fought, and at times physical, game and keeps us in third, level on points with Aylesbury United only seperated by their superior goal difference.
