Another shared win for the girls!

After our two U10 Girls teams shared the CGL Cup on Saturday, our U12 Girls did the same at The St Albans City Youth tournament on Sunday. With 13 girls available to play we split our squad evenly and entered two teams, Blues & Clarets. Drawn in separate groups both emerged as winners. The Blues were in majestic form winning all 4 group games without conceding a goal.

The Clarets got off to a slow start drawing their first game when they should have won it. Two victories put them back in contention but needing, probably, a win in their last group game against our old friends, Kinja. Not for the first time against these opponents we fell behind to an unlucky goal but this time fought back to equalise. With Kinja looking odds on to win their last game we expected The Clarets to end up in the 3rd place play off. However an unexpected 0-0 draw saw the two Ruislip teams meet in the final.

An incredibly close game finished 0-0 after extra time and a penalty shoot out ensued. Unfortunately this descended into confusion with the young referee not giving a clear decision on a `was it or wasn’t it over the line?’ effort and then losing track of the score. In the circumstances both teams agreed to share the trophy.

Well done to all the girls, both established and new. We have a great squad and are looking forward to our upcoming tournments.
