Hughenden Valley 5 – 2  Ruislip Rangers U13W

Sunday, 4 October 2015, 10:00am, King George V Playing Fields

The first-ever away match for the team in this league was played in an idyllic setting on a gorgeous autumnal Sunday morning.

The first half was pretty even. Hughenden dominated the first 10 minutes but Rangers were in the ascendancy for the remaining 25 minutes. They were winning the ball well, passing the ball around nicely and deservedly took the lead when Jerome crossed the ball over from the left for Kamaal to expertly knock the ball over the goalkeeper. The message at half-time was for the boys to keep doing what they were doing.

Unfortunately, Hughenden equalised and took the lead very early into the second half. That seemed to knock the confidence of Rangers and, before they knew it, they were 4-1 down. They kept on going though and got a goal back with 10 minutes to go when Danny beat the left back for speed and superbly hit a low shot into the far corner. Hopes for a comeback were on but unfortunately they were soon dashed when Hughenden made it 5-2.

Overall Rangers played well and the scoreline didn’t entirely reflect how the match went.
