After being defeated in the first league game of the season by a very well organised Marlow side the boys had a point to prove today. The first half started promisingly for Ruislip with Jack Tomkins shot rebounding of the post early on. Chances were very frequent with Matthew Donaghy and Josh Harnett finding the channel balls for the attackers to shoot at the busy Marlow keeper.
Marlow took the lead though through a dangerous cross and Ruislip were punished with Marlow’s first chance. The game changed from end to end chances for both teams. Striker Ben Poole was on target for Ruislip followed by Jordan Cameron which reflected the score 1 v 2 in Ruislip’s favour. Marlow struck again to even things up before Ben Poole’s header just before half time brought Ruislip into the break 2 v 3 up.
Into the second half and Marlow again levelled things with a windy cross come shot. Josh Harnett was busy as ever in Midfield and with a superb cross the Marlow defender could only put the ball passed his own keeper. Marlow seemed to lose their heads with a few miss timed challenges which the referee stopped with two red cards. Ruislip soon gained full momentum of the extra players and goals from Jack Tomkins and a brave header from defender Charlie Poole Ruislip secured the 3 points into what was an even game until the dismals. Many Thanks to Sam Fraser today for standing in goal for our regular keeper who was absent. Report by Tony Poole – coach
