Risborough Rangers  4 – 3  Ruislip Rangers U14W

Sunday 26 February 2017, 11:30am KO

Although their three and a half month unbeaten run finally came to an end, Rangers can take a lot of credit from this narrow defeat. Coming into this game, Risborough had won every league match but this could so easily have been a draw or a win for Ruislip.

Playing downhill with the wind behind them, Risborough took the lead in the second minute of the match. Ruislip soon found their feet, however, and started to play their normal game. They equalized in the 12th minute when Flynn found Harry down the left with a fantastic pass. Harry hit a crisp shot into the corner that the keeper had no chance of saving. Risborough regained the lead but the rest of the half was pretty even.

Rangers started the second half really well and deservedly made the score all square in the 50th minute when Kamaal showed great desire to get to the ball and score from a corner. The score remained that way for 10 minutes until Risborough got a couple of goals. Ruislip weren’t to be defeated, though, and got a goal back when Liam followed in from a free kick by Harry that the keeper couldn’t hold on to.

It’s a measure of how far Rangers have come on this season that Risborough considered this to be a massive win for them.
