Scorers Victoria Lochead & Charlotte McBrayne
GOM Victoria Lochead
So this was it, the culmination of our seasons efforts. The final was a day of expectations and nerves. We knew we were against a tough team but we were not expecting this. They were on us from the kick off and were first to every ball.
We kept the pressure on and denied them some early attempts. We kept attacking their end as well. They finally went ahead after a miss-timed clearance fell to them and they finished it off. We equalised after the linesman spotted that the Aylesbury keeper had handled inches outside her area. We were awarded a free kick which Victoria Lockhead duly struck. It sailed over the wall and into the back of the net. We were back in the game.
They went ahead again and we ended the first half 2-1 down. The second half started in much the same way as the first finished. However the girls were a bit more pumped up. We drew level again after some fine passing football. The ball was crossed to Jess who was on the edge of the area. Finding she could not score she saw Charlotte McBrayne to her left. She passed the ball over, Charlotte took a touch to control it and the deftly struck for goal.
Aylesbury then came back again quickly with three goals in 10 minutes. Their sixth goal coming in the dying minutes out of the melee of a corner. The girls played really well against possibly the best team in the eague. Each played their part and knew what to do but were unfortunately out played on the day. I am very proud of what we have acheived this season and what the girls have managed over the last six seasons at Ruislip Rangers. We will continue next season as Wealdstone Ladies Under 18’s but will forever be Ruislip Rangers.
