The Under 9s travelled out to Maidenhead in search of some new opposition and weren’t disappointed. We enjoyed some great games against teams from The Berkshire Girls League.

We took a little bit of time to settle and drew with Thatcham Town, 0-0, and Caversham Swans, 1-1 (Lily) despite having the best of both games. However a Tiarney penalty grabbed a win in a tight match v Woodley Hammers and the girls hit their stride. Thames Valley Youth were beaten 3-0 (Lola 2 and Keighley with a screamer) and then Maidenhead 1-0 (Keighley surpassed herself !).

The semi-final was an immediate rematch with Maidenhead and the girls took no prisoners in a 5-0 win (Lola 2, Lily, Keighley & Tiarney). The final was another tight affair against Thatcham but, just as we were starting to plan for penalties, Lily snatched the winner to gain the girls’ second tournament win of the summer.
