One of our Ball Kids from Euro 2020, Mark Roche, has been quoted in an article in The Athletic entitled ‘Healing grief, restoring pride and lots of tears: What England’s Euro 2020 meant to a nation’
It all got sorted through my football club, Ruislip Rangers. I was throwing the ball to Luke Shaw for most of the night. It sounds odd, but you can feel the players’ emotions. It’s so surreal. The atmosphere is completely different to normal matches. When there’s a goal, it’s just unexplainably loud. It hasn’t sunk in that I’m experiencing it. I’m 18 and haven’t seen loads of tournaments. But I’ve heard of 1996, and other times we’ve come up short, and so it’s an honour to be part of the history of England football.
