A great day for playing football and the effort by the Ruislip boys vs local rivals Bessingby was always going to be there.
RRFC hadn’t played for a couple of weeks though you wouldn’t have known it. It was a competitive game with both sides creating the chances. Ruislip were playing a very intelligent game and always looked comfortable. This was despite losing Reagan early on with a badly bruised foot. Hence, a make-shift defence did very well in the first half keeping the opposition and playing the offside rule well. Nil nil at half time.
In the second half Ruislip were extremely unlucky to concede a couple of of goals within a couple of minutes of the restart. The ball went Bessingby’s way and perhaps one should have been called out as offside. Ruislip battled on and were playing the better football. Despite creating chances and having a couple of penalty shouts waved away they could not get into the game. Bessingby’s 3rd goal was a cruel blow. But still Ruislip knew all was not lost and eventually the reward was there. A well taken corner saw the ball bounce out from defence to Callum, who from 12 yards let fly to score. Five minutes later, it was unfortunate to then see Bessingby secure the points with a well-taken 4th.
This was the best display yet from the Ruislip boys, who with a bit more composure are going to continue to cause the opposition problems. Hence, they battle on to start getting to winning ways – with the display today surely this will happen soon!
