A great day for playing football with the sun shining. However, the ground was muddy and heavy going. Ruislip welcomed a return game vs Kinja B It was a competitive first half with both sides creating the chances. It was Ruislip who struck first with some good hounding of the defence and the ball came out to Adam. He composed himself, saw the keeper off the line and hit it sweetly over him into the empty net. Kinja struck back quite quickly with a good move over 3/4 of the pitch. Then a cruel blow towards the end of the half when they sneaked another. The manager had made a brave selection with an attacking team in mind. He decided to keep the same format for the second half, which was an error; easy to say in hindsight. In the second half Ruislip gave their all but then gave away a third 10 minutes into the half. After a couple more the heads went down. Towards the end their goalkeeper picked up a pass back from 12 yards. The referee incorrectly did not get Kinja to retreat from where the kick was taken. Ruislip ended up hitting the bar. Back to the training ground to get some practice in communication and the manager to think about how best to set up a decent defence without upsetting the team’s ability to go forward as well as they did in this game.
