After winning the Premier Division of the Harrow Youth League in 2014, with a dramatic last day victory in a must win game at title rivals AFC Wembley, Ruislip kicked off the 2014/5 season in Division 1 of the Wycombe & South Bucks League.
The League campaign started well with two thumping wins but in the third game, the boys had their pants pulled down in a crushing 5-0 defeat at Penn & Tyler’s Green. If that was a wake up call, then they certainly responded winning their next ten matches, including a vital win against Penn in the return, with their next defeat only coming when the title was all but confirmed. In the end, Ruislip won an impressive thirteen of sixteen matches and finished well clear of the chasing pack at the top.
In the League Cup, Ruislip had a comfortable passage to the final scoring twenty six goals in four matches, conceding none. The final though was a different matter altogether with a titanic battle against Chalfont Saints Leopards finishing 1-1 aet with Ruislip eventually triumphing 4-1 in a dramatic penalty shoot out.
Ruislip’s route to the County Cup Final was much more bumpy as they showed tremendous character to overcome two goal deficits in both the 4th round and quarter final stages. This character was also on display in the gritty 1-0 wins in both the semi final and in a very tense final against Sandgate.
The squad of players that has performed week in week out and has earned every bit of success that has come their way this season is as follow.
Goalkeeper Harry Sandiford made three outstanding and match winning penalty saves in the two cup finals.
The regular back three of Lewis Crowley, Luke Massingham and Ben Higgins were strong and solid throughout the campaign.
The central midfield three of Harrison Deas, Omari Reynolds and Mark Webb were never less than tireless and unselfish in their work.
The wide players Finn Edwards, Ryan Morgan, Lennox Kedman and Remi Ogunbayo did their jobs both offensively and defensively for the good of the team.
The three front men, Charlie Coshall, Jack Neill and Eli Soque always had goals in them and just as importantly, defended from the front.
Caleb Watts, Drillon Krasniqi and late season signing Aiden Robertson also contributed and, of course, none of this would have been possible without the hard work of the two coaches, Paul Massingham and Tony Morgan.
Everyone played their part and all can be proud of what they’ve achieved in this momentous campaign. The U13 Wycombe team, will go down in the history books, as the first team Ruislip Rangers, to ever to win the treble.
