Sunday 19 March 2017, 10:30 KO, Kings College Field
Risborough’s league record prior to this game was played 11, won 11. So this was a good result but the shame was that it could have been even better because at one point Ruislip were 3-0 up.
The first half was very even. Both teams battled hard but the better chances fell to Ruislip. All square at the half was a fair reflection of the first period.
Ruislip took the lead early into the first half when Flynn struck with a free kick from outside the area. Five minutes later it was 2-0 when Kamaal flicked the ball in from another Flynn free kick. Three minutes later Ruislip went further ahead when Flynn latched onto a ball from the left and curled the ball around the keeper from a short distance out. Risborough showed their quality and their fighting spirit, though, as they got themselves back into the game through two set pieces and a penalty with 2 minutes to go.
Having been so far ahead Ruislip might have felt a hint of disappointment but they needn’t though because they performed well and broken Risborough’s 100% record.
