The Under 17s lost in the most disappointing way possible but they can be very proud of their performance. The fact that the Chesham goalkeeper was the man-of-the-match tells you how this game went.
Chesham struck first towards the end of an even first half. It was a scrappy goal following a free-kick. The equalizer came in the 67th minute when Dylan Wells scored with a header from a free kick. In the first period of extra time Rangers were awarded a penalty. It was well-taken into the corner but somehow the Chesham keeper managed to get a hand onto it to turn it round the post for a corner. With just seconds to go a Chesham striker was put in on goal and he struck it home.
Rangers gave an excellent account of themselves and edged it as they played the better football. They can count themselves very unfortunate to lose but it all bodes well for the future. Three points from a double-header on Sunday and they will be Second Division Champions.
