South Bucks Division 2
With a depleted squad Ruislip travelled to Berkhamstead knowing a win would take the boys up into mid table. With boys forced having to play out of position we looked a little dis-organised in the first half. Berkhampstead to advantage of some slack marking and their striker raced through our defence to slot home the opener and to go 1 v 0 up. Ruislip striker Ben Poole had a goal disallowed when Ronan Hodgson cut his cross back for Ben to fire home but the ball was adjudged to have been out of play.
Half time 1 v 0
Into the second half and Ruislip were a different team, a through ball from Alex Wright led to the lively Jack Tomkins to round the keeper and coolly placed his shot into the top corner. The momentum was now firmly with Ruislip and stronger and more organised defending from Nathan Appleby, Martin Thornton, Alex Wright and Matthew Huszczo allowed Ruislip’s attacking flair to impose the game. Industry from Owen Chantry and Kinsey Hogg was again ever present, this allowed Charlie Poole space on the left wing to float a great ball over the Berkhampstead defence for his brother Ben Poole to rifle into the bottom corner and take the lead. The game was still in the balance until a clever floated free kick form the half way line from Alex Wright found Ronan Hodgson at the far post, who then drove his cross across goal for Ben Poole again to rifle one into the bottom corner. Ruislip’s keeper Ryan Fox had little to do second half but was more commanding and the shots he had to save were taken comfortably. Final score 1 v 3. Report by Tony Poole – Coach
