Burnham Junior Cougars Green U13  7 – 2  Ruislip Rangers U13W

Sunday, 17 April 2016, Farnham Park, 1.00pm

There’s not a lot of good things that you can say when you lose your fourth game in a row to the bottom team in the league who had lost 13 of their previous 15 games. Rangers didn’t just lose, they were thrashed. It was such a shame as the game was Dan Stevens’ last match for the team he has been with for the last 3 years.

There is no doubt that Burnham have improved in the 7 months since Rangers beat them convincingly in the first game of the season. But even Burnham probably couldn’t believe it when they were three goals up within the first 12 minutes. And they also probably couldn’t believe the space they were given by Rangers to pass the ball around and to create chances.

Rangers were marginally better in the second half than they were in the first. Josh scored to make it 4-1 when he went round the keeper when in a one-on-one situation and Aidan took his chance well from a cross from the left. There were some good performances but too many players didn’t show up. It’s hard to explain how a team that drew and could have beaten the league leaders a few weeks ago could then lose so disappointingly to the bottom team.
