RRFC U12Cs 1 vs 0 Brook House U12Bs

Still winter in Ruislip this weekend as RRFC U12Cs played a new home venue – Queensmead School. A bitter wind drove across the pitch as we welcomed Brook House U12Bs to renew a great game had at theirs (ended in a 2-2 draw) Both sides had a nervy start and RRFC especially just didn’t appear to want to be there. They stood back and let Brook House take the initiative. Not what the RRFC management wanted. Thankfully, the boys started to switch on after a couple of strikes from the opposition. RRFC gradually got more into the game but every foray forward did not produce the promising result expected. Either the ball was over hit on a surprisingly bouncy surface or decisions made by some players were the wrong ones. Shots on goal from 25 yards were speculative to say the least! 0-0 at half time after RRFC survived a series of penetrating corners from Brook House was a helpful score line. The manager wanted the boys to remember their positions and to play 110% going down the slope. With that done he indicated the outcomes would result. And so it saw the RRFC boys become stronger and stronger. Their corners were the troubling ones with Brook House not really testing the RRFC keeper. The RRFC defence today made sure of that. RRFC midfield and wings got more and more into the game and began to pass the ball around to try and get the space for a scoring shot. However, the Brook House boys were having none of it. Hugh played an intelligent game today; passed it when necessary or deciding he would try and get forward. One such foray saw him go wide of the defence to the by-line. He crossed it and there was Callum to challenge goalkeeper and ball. All looked lost but somehow he stuck out a toe and the ball went into the net. RRFC was hustled in the last 5 minutes as Brook House tried to get an equaliser but all played their game today and the score remained the same. Another great result for RRFC U12Cs!
