The first league game for Rangers in three months ended up having a convincing scoreline but, despite the fact that the team played really well, it wasn’t that way for most of the game. This game marked the return to the team for two former players – Flynn Duncan and Harry Streets – and they both played as if they hadn’t been away.
With the strong wind behind them, Harefield dominated the early part of the game. They had countless corners in the game but couldn’t convert any of them with Liam getting his head on so many of the crosses. Rangers worked really hard and did have chances in the first half but the teams went in all square at the half.
Rangers took the lead very early in the first half. An exquisite cross from the right by Jerome was brilliantly met on the volley by Josh. Even though Rangers were in the ascendancy, while it was only 1-0, the game could have gone either way because Harefield were winning so many corners. The second goal came with 12 minutes to go when Mark expertly tucked a chance away. That calmed the nerves and Rangers then went on to score two more goals in quick succession from Kamaal and Mark. The highlight of the day had to the fifth goal, though, scored by the ever-popular Iain. Every boy descended on him to celebrate afterwards.
