Rangers started their first-ever season in the Wycombe and South Bucks league in fine style on a lovely sunny autumnal day. Eight new players have joined the squad since the end of the last season but you wouldn’t have known that from the way in which they played.
Within just a few minutes they were two goals ahead thanks to two expertly taken goals by Jerome Francis. Burnham found a very difficult coping with his power and pace down the right-hand side. Rangers played some superb football throughout the first half. They played as a team and battled hard.
The goal of the game came when Liam Tarrant somehow scored from a very acute angle. Rangers always looked like scoring from corners and did so on two occasions when Josh Edwards and Liam Tarrant converted well placed corners by Mark Roche.
Burnham were not to be beaten easily though and scored very soon after the start of the second half. Rangers extended their lead to 7-2 with goals from Kamaal and Iain. Rangers thought they had won the match at that point but Burnham had very different ideas. They scored two quick goals which meant the final 15 minutes were far from plain sailing for Rangers. Michael came close to scoring but his powerful and cleanly-struck shot hit the post.
Every player played well but special mention should go to Ryshub Popat in goal and Niall Haynes who played at centre half for the first time and was superb.
