The first league game of the season with dry conditions and the sun on our backs. Â The opposition were Kinja B, newly formed with overspill from their A team, who we played last year. Â With RRFC also fielding a new look team all was set for a good game.
Unfortunately, RRFC never settled on the ball and there was too much bickering amongst the boys throughout. Â Having said that they held Kinja coming down the hill and did well to hold them 1-0 at half time. With no difference in ability between the boys the manager at half time tried to instill more confidence with the RRFC boys.
Running down the hill the chances were being created but still RRFC didn’t make the most of the opportunities presented. Â All were eager to win the ball but when they had it they rarely showed the composure required. Â They needed to work for each other and pass the ball around so that the opening was created. Â Unfortunately, they kept bunching up and din’t create space so that the person on the ball was able to pass. Consequently when the ball was lost they then were scrambling back to help the over-worked defence. Kinja scored two more goals to make the final scoreline flatter them.
