Larkspur Rovers 2 – 2 Under 12B

Sunday 30 November, 10:30am

This was the first game since the end October for Rangers and they started the match eager to make an impression.

In the fourth minute Mark Roche was through on goal with the just the goalkeeper to beat. He got the ball under the keeper’s body but it then hit his trailing leg and this was enough of a touch to knock the ball onto the post. Rangers dominated the possession but didn’t score until the 19th minute. Daniel Mullin picked the ball up in the middle of the pitch and skillfully dribbled his way past 6 players. He got himself to the touchline and cut the ball back neatly to give Mark a simple tap-in. Larkspur got an equalizer following a defensive mix-up but Rangers responded just a minute later. Josh Lafferty found Tre Holmes with a perfect pass from the left and Tre calmly and expertly slotted the ball home.

Rangers dominated the second half as well but just couldn’t score. They must have had 10 corners but never looked like scoring from any of them. The best chance of the second half fell to Daniel Mullin. With the goalkeeper stranded he failed to find the net or find a pass. The longer the half went on without Rangers getting the two goal margin that would have made the game safe, the more you thought Larkspur might get an equalizer. The referee failed to give Larkspur what looked like a penalty with three minutes to go. And then with a minute to go he gave them what didn’t look like a free-kick from just outside the Rangers area. Larkspur duly scored from the free kick but there wasn’t enough time left for Rangers to get the winner their dominance of the game probably deserved.
