St. Josephs U12Bs 1 vs 3 RRFC U12Cs

A trip across to St. Joseph’s for a first time encounter against their B team. The boys were up for this after their great start to the New Year; remaining unbeaten. St. Joseph’s played a solid game at the back and had a couple of boys testing the RRFC defence. However, some good interplay on the right wing saw Reagan able to cross from the right hand corner to the middle. Callum was there to evade defender and keeper and somehow bumble the ball across the line. Credit to St. Joseph’s for continuing to battle away, so disrupting the RRFC play. They had a couple of runs on Lewis in goal and finally struck back when a fortuitous bounce saw the ball go past Lewis, 1-1 at half-time. Managers talk asked the boys to keep positions and to start passing the ball around a bit more. A sluggish start to the second half saw RRFC do anything but and so finding the going tough. They continued to play close and down the middle. Perhaps luckily George had a run on goal and drove forward. The St. Joseph’s boy took evasive action and brought him down. A clear foul with George shaken. However, he pulled himself up and focused on only one thing i.e. he was taking the free kick to score from 20 yards out. Composing himself he struck a perfect free-kick that fizzed past wall and keeper into the right side of the goal. RRFC were now leading but St. Joseph’s were still a threat. Managerial changes seemed to disrupt the RRFC boys ambitions as St. Joseph’s asked some questions. However, RRFC made sure with another central position with the ball falling to Aingaran to hit sweetly to the left of keeper and goal. RRFC boys made hard work of it but eventually got the right result; a 3-1 win Assistant Referee: Jamie Pearson RRFC Team: Lewis Cole Richardson (Goalkeeper) Richard Hennessy Spencer Furlong Reagan De Vere Louie Lovegrove (Captain) Kyle Pearson George Hollinrake (Man of the match + 1 goal) Aingaran Selvarajah (1 goal) Adam Taylor Hugh Legood Callum O’Grady (1 goal) James Hersee
