Sunday 14 December 2014, 10;30am. Harrow Youth League. Headstone Manor Recreation Ground.
Without six of the squad, Rangers were forced to play this home match at top-of-the-table Pinner Albion’s ground. They gave a good account of themselves in the first half but they tired and fell away in the second. Players did well playing in unfamiliar roles but only having one sub that could be brought on took its toll in the end.
With a number of tall and strong players Albion were very dangerous from set pieces and went ahead early on from a corner. Rangers were playing well though and created a number of chances but it was Albion who got the second goal. Rangers were right back in it though after Toby took his chance well having been put through by Mark. Albion looked worried as Rangers put together a number of good attacks. Jerome came close to equalizing following a run down the right. His powerful shot across the goal went just wide. The moment of the match came soon after when Conor Forkin made an amazing save. For all the world it looked like an Albion shot was going into the top corner. But somehow Conor managed to get to it and tip the ball over the bar. Unfortunately seconds later Pinner got a third goal.
The second half was an uphill battle for Rangers in both senses of the word. They rarely were able to mount a serious attack and Albion took advantage of playing downhill. Rangers should take credit for the fact that they kept on working hard and there were some good performances. Cian, in particular, hardly put a foot wrong and Charlie and Mark had solid games. Daniel Mullin did really well playing at centre-half for the first time ever.
