Sunday 28 September 2014, Harrow League Cup
Rangers went through to the second round of the Cup in convincing style, although it could have been even more emphatic if they hadn’t eased off in the second half.
They were ahead within the first minute when Daniel Mullin’s shot crept over the line even though the keeper got his hands to it. Jerome scored his first goal in a competitive goal when he ran strongly down the right wing before hitting a superb shot into the far corner. Rangers were 3-0 up after 9 minutes when Josh scored an unstoppable penalty. Daniel Mullin got his second of the match 10 minutes later and, just before the half, Nathan Crowley increased the lead to 5 when he hit a screamer from 25 yards out.
Rangers started the second half strongly. Daniel Mullin got his hat-trick just following the restart with a superbly taken shot. Two minutes later Daniel Stevens scored his first-ever goal for the B team. From the left-back spot he hit the ball into the area. It bounced over the keeper and into the far corner. To their immense credit, Belmont then got back into the game. They pulled two goals back and played really well.
The two teams meet again in two weeks in the League. If Rangers play like they did for the first 40 minutes they should win. But if they play like they did in the last 20 minutes, it could be a lot closer.
